Responsible reporting by AML (09/02/2021)

Dear colleagues,

We have been focusing on further optimizing our reporting for several weeks now.

After the electronic reporting channels, we have now restarted our SMS server.
This means that as before, you can receive your results via SMS if desired.

In addition, the necessary preparations have been made to be able to supply paper reports again.
However, since a whole range of electronic reporting tools is now available (ConsultIT, Lab Online, your EMD, Quick Lab and CoZo), we want to further rationalize our report printing policy.
After all, countless reports are printed unnecessarily, resulting in a lot of paper waste.

Next week, a digital survey will be sent out in which you can inform us of your wishes regarding the paper reporting.
If, in the meantime, you urgently need a paper report, do not hesitate to contact our secretariat, we will send it immediately.

In case of questions, you can email us at info@aml-lab.be.

You can still follow the most recent developments on our website www.aml-lab.be.
Further communication will follow as soon as possible.

Thank you for understanding.
With best regards,
Pharm. Biol. G. Salembier

Restart of COVID-PCR determination in AML (29/01/2021)

Dear colleagues,

The routine part of the lab has now been stable for several weeks. From next Monday, our COVID lab will also be fully restarted. Our reporting lines with Sciensano are operational again, allowing us to re-enable our full test capacity.

From now on, the Ct values of the detected genes will also be stated on the report. Samples with a high viral load (Ct < 25) will be further investigated for the presence of possible variants, including the British variant. This additional result will be reported within 48 hours.

We actively collaborate with the national reference labs to identify circulating variants. A representative amount of our positive samples are sent for sequencing. We closely follow the literature and guidelines of Sciensano. If necessary, we can switch quickly in our test strategy.

We urge you to clearly state the patient’s national register number with every application for SARS-CoV-2 PCR, so that correct reporting to Sciensano in the context of contact tracing is possible on the one hand, and the result can be consulted on CoZo on the other.

For the time being we cannot yet read the e-forms electronically. All you have to do is print the completed e-form and attach it to the sample. This will be remedied as soon as possible. Applications via our usual paper application form and Lab Online are of course also possible.

In case of questions, you can email us at info@aml-lab.be.

Since the operation of our telephone exchange has now stabilized, the emergency numbers previously communicated are no longer active. You can contact us at the usual number. The mobile phone number (0478 / 42.51.09) of the secretary on duty can still be used on weekends outside office hours.

You can still follow the most recent developments on our website www.aml-lab.be. Further communication will follow as soon as possible.

Thank you for understanding.

Cyber attack Algemeen Medisch Laboratorium (13/01/2021)

Dear colleagues,

The lab is largely operational again since last week. In addition to the blood samples, all microbiology samples are now also analyzed internally. Additional requests can be processed for all samples from after 09/01.
Some of the analyzes are still done offline, which means that reporting may still experience some delay.

Today, our digital platform Lab Online will be available again during the day, both for applications and for consulting your results.
In the meantime, we can again send the results electronically to your EMD.
These will be gradually forwarded to your package in the coming days.
For the time being no paper reports can be delivered, this will be worked on in the coming days.
You can of course still consult your results on ConsultIT.

Cyber attack Algemeen Medisch Laboratorium (11/01/2021)

Dear colleagues,

Thanks to the hard work of the past few days, a lot of operational progress has been made.

All administration is meanwhile re-processed internally and all blood samples are internally analyzed for routine analyzes.
Other analyzes (NIPT, pathology, most PCR analyzes …) have been operational since a week ago. However, since these analyzes are done offline, reporting may still experience some delay.

For the processing of the microbiology samples, we still rely on the help of surrounding laboratories, but all results will be available in our LIS system and reported to you by us.
In the meantime, we will continue to focus on further updating overdue administration and refining our systems.

Our digital platform Lab Online is not yet available, nor can paper reports be delivered for the time being.
The restart of Lab Online and reporting to your EMD are our next priorities.
For all your results of routine analyzes requested since Saturday 9 January, you can call our secretariat or consult them on ConsultIT.
Our lines are often overloaded by the many incoming calls, for which we apologize.
If you have any questions, you can email us at aml@sonicgenetics.be.

We want to emphasize that all electronic communications you receive from us are completely secure.
All software necessary for external communication (eg Lab Online) has been set up at an external partner in a completely secure environment, separate from our network.
This optimizes its security for both us and you.

You can still follow the most recent developments on our website www.aml-lab.be.
Further communication will follow as soon as possible.

Thank you for understanding.
With best regards,

Cyber attack Algemeen Medisch Laboratorium (06/01/2021)

Dear colleagues,

Despite media coverage, the computer problems caused by a hack on our system are more difficult to solve than expected.
In-depth research has since shown that no patient data was leaked in this attack.
Our focus is on guaranteeing our services in collaboration with surrounding laboratories. In the meantime, we are concentrating optimally on restarting our systems.
Use a paper application form for your application and do not forget to mention the patient’s name and national register number. Our digital application platform Lab Online is NOT available. For the time being, results can only be reported by telephone. ConsultIT is available for historical results. If you have any questions, you can email us at aml@sonicgenetics.be.
You can follow the most recent developments on our website www.aml-lab.be. There you will also find an FAQ with which we try to answer the most frequently asked questions.
Our lab faces an unprecedented challenge, and the entire team works hard to help you and the patients move forward. We realize we require an extra effort and thank you for your confidence. Like you, we hope that we will be fully operational again as soon as possible.
Further communication will follow as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding.

Cyber attack Algemeen Medisch Laboratorium (04/01/2021)

Dear colleague,

As a result of the hacking, our communication channels are not working optimally and we are temporarily using the following website: www.aml-lab.be.
An update of the progress and the actions taken will follow on a regular basis under the heading “News” so that everyone receives the correct information in a timely manner.
In the “FAQ” section you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions.
You can find useful documents such as application forms or material cards under the heading “Documents“.
Because our trusted mailbox is not yet accessible to us, we have temporarily created an email address for all practical questions aml@sonicgenetics.be.
We urge you to always provide the patient’s national insurance number. Only in this way can we find the results quickly and will they are also be sent to CoZo.
The results of the samples analyzed by the collaborating labs can be sent electronically to your EMD, provided we know the correct format. Please email this to the temporary email address aml@sonicgenetics.be.
Our lab faces an unprecedented challenge, and the entire team is working hard to help you move forward.

We get words of understanding from many, thank you!

Like you, we hope that we are fully operational again as soon as possible and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Cyber attack Algemeen Medisch Laboratorium (30/12/2020)

Dear colleague,

As you have probably already heard through various channels, we are facing an unforeseen computer problem due to a cyber attack.
Hierdoor is het labo van de buitenwereld afgesloten en staat de labo-activiteit op een zeer laag pitje. A whole team of computer experts has been working uncistingly ever since to ensure that we can safely restart all our devices again.

We are obliged to outsource a large part of our samples to other surrounding laboratories, for which we are very grateful to them. They are in charge of further processing and reporting and therefore ask you to submit your requests on paper.

We are doing our utmost to make this go smoothly and are doing everything we can to get it resolved quickly.

Questions can best be directed to aml@sonicgenetics.be. We’ll try to answer you as soon as possible.

Thank you again for your understanding and encouraging responses.

On behalf of all employees of A.M.L.
